Laila Stamer, CDP
Founder and Program Director
My journey began 27 years ago in Amsterdam, where I helped launch the world’s first dementia day center. After moving to Georgia, I founded The Tulip Place to bring joyful, empowering programs to families. My passion is creating laughter-filled days and supporting care partners every day.
I love to sing and dance and be creative!
Tara Samples, CDP
Director Activity & Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator
Over twenty five years ago, I began my career in social services and quickly found my passion for working with seniors. Inspired by my grandmother, I began teaching fitness classes and coordinating activities at the local senior center. This led to working at an assisted living community and getting to know and love the memory care residents. My goal is to make each day special and fun for them. It is truly my pleasure to know our wonderful members and call them my friends!

I’ve spent most of my career supporting people with special needs, managing homes where they could live safely and happily. Now, I’m part of a wonderful team running a day program for individuals in the early stages of dementia. I love creating a space where people feel engaged, respected, and—most importantly—have fun every day!

My experience as a caregiver during college started my love for supporting seniors and I joined The Tulip Place team. Being around people living with dementia and their care partners has truly changed my life and I have found my passion. I love bringing smiles to faces and knowing that everyone leaves as happy as can be!

My involvement with dementia began in 2024 through volunteering at The Tulip Place, that my friend Laila started. I now work with the team on a part-time basis.
I love being with our members, chatting, playing games, sitting on the porch and all the others things we do together during a Tulip Place day. It's my happy place! "
