Meaningful days for people living with a dementia.
Peace of mind for caregivers.

When someone with dementia is home most of the day, their world can get smaller—and yours can too. Tulip gives your loved one a place to connect, laugh, stay active and feel part of something, while giving you dependable time to work, rest, run errands or simply be off duty for a few hours.
Your loved one is still independent in many ways — but their world is getting smaller.
Maybe they have stopped driving, see friends less often, or spend more of the day at home. You may be starting to worry about leaving them alone, while also realizing that you have become their main source of company, activity and reassurance.
Your days may sound more like:
“She sits in the chair watching TV all day.”
“He follows me around the house.”
“She barely sees anyone anymore.”
“I feel guilty every time I leave.”
“I just need one dependable day to work, run errands or go to appointments.”
Tulip gives your loved one somewhere to belong, connect and have a meaningful day — while giving you dependable time to take care of your own life.
Not sure whether Tulip fits your situation? Call Laila. There is no pressure and no obligation — just a conversation about how we can support you and see if your loved one could be a fit for Tulip!

Tulip is a social day program for people living with dementia who can still enjoy being part of a small group, build relationships, and take part in the rhythm of the day.
Tulip may be a good fit if your loved one:
You do not have to wait until caregiving becomes a crisis.
Starting earlier gives your loved one the chance to get to know us while new people, new routines, and new places are still easier to accept. They can build friendships, become familiar with the team, and begin to see Tulip as a place they know and trust.
That trust becomes especially important as dementia progresses. Waiting until your loved one is much further along can make adjusting to a new environment more difficult.
If you are beginning to think, “They need more than sitting at home with me all day,” that is enough reason to have a conversation.
Call Laila and tell her what your loved one is like and what your days at home currently look like. There is no pressure and no obligation. We will help you decide whether Tulip sounds like the right fit.
We hear this all the time.
Most people living with dementia do not think of themselves as someone who needs “day care” or a “program” — and arguing with them about it does not help.
That is why Tulip is built around belonging, not convincing.
People come to Tulip to have coffee, talk, laugh, help with a project, play a game, listen to music, enjoy lunch and spend time with people they get to know.
There is no expectation that everyone has to join every activity or behave a certain way. Some people jump right in. Others watch first, prefer one-on-one conversation, or simply need time to get comfortable.
Our job is not to remind someone what they can no longer do. It is to help them feel capable, useful, supported, comfortable and welcome.
And sometimes, the person who was most resistant at first becomes the one asking when they are coming back.

He was skeptical the first week, enjoyed the second week and absolutely loved the third time - by then he felt he had made some new friends and I could tell when I picked him up that he felt a sense of worth.
I am very grateful for this program. I think it will help me be a better care giver because now I know that two days a week I will have some time off and I can get “recharged.”

A day at Tulip is about more than staying busy. It is about having somewhere to go, people to know, and a reason to be part of the day.
There is coffee and conversation, brain games, music, movement, creative projects, lunch together, time outside, helping with a simple job, and plenty of laughter along the way.
Nobody is expected to participate in everything.
Some people jump right in. Others prefer to watch, talk one-on-one, help with a task, or simply enjoy being around the group.
What matters most is that your loved one feels comfortable, included, useful and known.

Six dependable hours when you are not the one responsible for keeping your loved one safe, engaged and connected.
You can work, go to appointments, see a friend, exercise, shop, rest — or do absolutely nothing.
And you do not have to spend those hours wondering whether your loved one is sitting at home lonely, bored or waiting for you to provide the entire day.

Before founding The Tulip Place, I worked in dementia programming in the Netherlands and saw firsthand how much the right environment can change life for both the person living with dementia and their family.
I created Tulip because families need more than a safe place for someone to spend the day.
They need a place where their loved one can still laugh, contribute, make friends and feel like themselves.
And caregivers need time to be a spouse, daughter, son, friend — not just a caregiver.

We learn each participant’s history, interests, routines, communication style and support needs so they can participate at their own comfort level.

Activities at Tulip are not about filling time. We create opportunities for friendship, purpose, movement, creativity and success throughout the day. We will make a plan with you on how to best engage your loved one
