At The Tulip Place, we believe in creating meaningful, joyful days for people living with dementia while supporting their care partners with respite and peace of mind. Founded by Laila Stamer, a Dementia Certified Practitioner with over 28 years of experience, our day program is rooted in compassion, innovation, and a commitment to enhancing quality of life.
Laila’s passion for dementia care began 30 years ago in Amsterdam, where she worked with a pioneering professor at the University of Amsterdam who opened the world’s first dementia day center. The transformative impact of that program—bringing purpose, connection, and happiness to individuals and their families—inspired Laila’s lifelong mission. After moving to Georgia from the Netherlands, she noticed a gap in local services for those living at home or in independent and assisted living communities. Determined to fill this need, Laila founded The Tulip Place in Milton, Georgia, to offer a unique day program that supports aging in place and fosters vibrant, fulfilling days.

Founder and Program Director
My journey began 27 years ago in Amsterdam, where I helped launch the world’s first dementia day center. After moving to Georgia, I founded The Tulip Place to bring joyful, empowering programs to families. My passion is creating laughter-filled days and supporting care partners every day.
I love to sing and dance and be creative!

Program Operations Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator
I found my passion for working with seniors in my music therapy degree. After becoming board certified and specializing in seniors with memory impairments, I expanded my expertise into the business side and find joy in the many titles I do for the Tulip Place. I love to bring happiness to our participants through music, arts, nature, and positivity!

Activities & Engagement Coordinator
I’ve spent most of my career supporting people with special needs, managing homes where they could live safely and happily. Now, I’m part of a wonderful team running a day program for individuals in the early stages of dementia. I love creating a space where people feel engaged, respected, and—most importantly—have fun every day!

Daily Program Lead and Social Media Manager
My experience as a caregiver during college started my love for supporting seniors and I joined The Tulip Place team. Being around people living with dementia and their care partners has truly changed my life and I have found my passion. I love bringing smiles to faces and knowing that everyone leaves as happy as can be!

Activities & Engagement Lead
With over 10 years of experience as a CNA, I have developed a deep passion for caring for older adults. This experience has led me to my current role as part of the dedicated team at The Tulip Place. I am honored to help lead a day program that provided compassionate care and meaningful engagement for individuals living with dementia. Supporting our friends and their families has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in their lives each day.

Activities Coordinator
My involvement with dementia began in 2024 through volunteering at The Tulip Place, that my friend Laila started. I now work with the team on a part-time basis.
I love being with our participants, chatting, playing games, sitting on the porch and all the others things we do together during a Tulip Place day. It's my happy place! "
